Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes, Città del Messico
From November 12, 2026, to February 28, 2027, the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City will host a selection of works from the Centre Pompidou in Paris, as part of the celebrations for the Bicentennial of diplomatic relations between Mexico and France.
The exhibition brings together works whose creative purpose was to use energy as a disruptive force, breaking down two-dimensionality and transforming the artwork into a physical phenomenon that interacts with the viewer. The exhibition thus explores the intersection of art, science, and technology.
The selected works trace the development of Kinetic Art and Op Art, while highlighting the leading role played by Latin American artists within this international avant-garde movement.
These works include the sculpture Nauta (1960, bronze) by Francesco Somaini, donated to the Centre Pompidou by Luisa Somaini in 2011.
