Chronologically ordered and divided according to the different operational typologies of the very wide creative activity of Francesco Somaini (Lomazzo 1926 – Como 2005), the volume constitutes a new privileged point of view for getting to know the entire development of his career in the round, from which it emerges the extraordinary wealth of the works that made him internationally famous. Consisting of over 700 pages, it features an extensive essay by Enrico Crispolti and an accurate critical anthology and further historical-artistic insights by Luisa Somaini. Completely illustrated in black and white with large inserts of color images, the Catalog includes over 2500 works created between 1936 and 2001, accompanied by cards with a detailed bibliographic and exhibition analysis documenting the years of training, updating to the avant-gardes from beyond the Alps, joining the MAC-Espace and the Informale, up to the season characterized by reflection on the relationship between sculpture, architecture and the urban context, the rediscovery of myth and the execution of new, important monumental works.
