CONFERENCE

The presentation of the ten-episode podcast Enrico Crispolti: Art in the City—From Participation to the Environment as a Social Space — organized by the Crispolti Archive and CASVA— will take place on October 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM at CASVA in Milan.
The event arrives at a time of significant public interest in the subject matter, reconstructing the phases, processes, and experiments that defined the key theoretical milestones of Crispolti’s critical work on art in the urban environment from the 1970s through the 2000s. These milestones are illustrated through documents from the Archive itself, with a particular focus on the profound connection between Crispolti and the sculptor Francesco Somaini regarding the role of sculpture in the city.
In this context, the exhibition SOMAINI. GIARDINI INQUIETI: The Philosophy of Landscape — on view at CASVA until October 28 — resonates powerfully with the podcast; it was through Somaini that Crispolti began to reflect more deeply on the theme of art in public space, leading to their 1972 co-authored book Urgenza nella città, which marked a starting point for this line of research.
